TSB has announced it is closing 13 branches in the West Midlands next year.

Among the planned closures are banks in Smethwick, Stourbridge and Cannock.

  • The Great Hampton branch in Birmingham will close in April
  • The Cannock and Stirchley branches will close in September
  • The Lichfield and Stourbridge branches will close in October
  • The branch in Bearwood Road, Smethwick, will close in November.

TSB said that it was cutting back its locations to refocus on profits, and will replace workers' tasks with automated processes.

As part of the plan, 82 branches will be shut next year across the country.

But branches in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Cape Hill in Smethwick, Merry Hill, Oldbury and Old Hill are staying open.

Robin Bulloch, customer banking director at TSB, said: “We have made the difficult decision to close some of our quieter branches and will fully support customers through this transition.

“We realise this is difficult news for our branch partners and will do everything to support those affected to redeploy as many people as we can to other roles and keep compulsory redundancies to a minimum.”
