The car park will undergo major repairs to strengthen the building's structure and fix a looking roof.

Ms James, who represents the town in parliament, tweeted: "Pleased to hear @dudleymbc will be renovating the Ryemarket multi-storey.

"It is clear that it needs major repairs and I am hopeful that this work will also fix the leak in the roof, which has caused the lifts to be out of action."

Floors, ceilings and columns will need strengthening on the multi-storeys, which were built in the 1970s.

Car parking spaces will be made wider as part of the revamp work, which will allow room for more vehicles but result in some being lost.
