New jobs will be created at the Argos distribution centre

The 130 new customer management roles are on top of the 90 jobs Argos created this summer, bringing the total workforce at Acton Gate to more than 700.

The new recruits will be the first point of contact for millions of customers, responding to queries about products, orders and deliveries, including through Argos’s online LiveChat service and its social media channels.

As well as handling Argos customer enquiries, the customer management team also responds to queries relating to Habitat and Sainsbury’s Tu clothing ranges available through the Argos website.

Permanent full time and part time contracts are available and new team members will receive comprehensive training.

Councillor Frances Beatty said: “It is excellent news. Argos has had a strong presence in Stafford for a long time and it really could not be better news for the area.

“It is providing more job opportunities and also it is a sign of how buoyant and attractive it is for businesses to come and invest here.”

Chris Stroud, customer management centre director at Argos, said: “We’re growing our Acton Gate team by over a third this year.

"Since June we have recruited 90 new colleagues and we’re now looking for 130 more helpful and enthusiastic people to join our team to deliver the fantastic service we’re known for.

"The work is fast-paced, varied and rewarding with the potential to learn a whole set of new skills.”

New recruits will benefit from competitive hourly rates and a ‘fun and friendly team culture’ in addition to 24 days paid holiday and enrolment on to the company pension scheme.

Argos is running open days on September 8 and 22 at the Acton Gate office.
