Session Meat Supplies in Kidderminster has teamed up with Lye's Sadler's Brewery with support from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

Sessions of Worcestershire was established in 1979 and is a third-generation family-run sausage manufacturer and butchers.

The new sausage is infused with Sadler's popular Peaky Blinder ale, which was created in homage to the TV series that is partly filmed at the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley.

The partnership has been assisted by a £70,000 asset finance facility secured by Session Meat Supplies from Lloyds Bank. This has enabled the business to buy a new sausage filler machine which will boost its capacity by 30 per cent and is set to raise turnover by more than 10 per cent in the next year.

Sessions of Worcestershire sells sausage, fresh meat and dairy products to farm shops, cafes, butchers, schools and care homes across the Midlands.

The new Peaky Blinder sausage will be available in local butchers, pubs and cafés as well as being sold to care homes across the region.

Kate Blizzard, managing director at Sessions of Worcestershire, said: “Sessions of Worcestershire began as a butcher run by my grandad 40 years ago. Today we have over 30 members of staff at our bespoke site in Kidderminster and supply over 500 businesses across the region.

“We decided to launch the ale sausage because we wanted to do something different and create some excitement around our products. Provenance is extremely important to us so working with a business from the Midlands was key for us. And so we’re pleased that the partnership with Sadler’s has been a real success.

“The funding from Lloyds Bank has enabled us to invest in our facilities and focus on product innovation. The new ale flavoured sausage compliments our current product portfolio and judging from internal tastings, we’re sure it’ll be a hit with our customers.”

Ian Monk, manufacturing relationship manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “Sessions of Worcerstershire is a great example of a local, family-run business that has been able to significantly expand its operations by investing in new machinery and capacity to help drive product innovation and business growth.

“The recent partnership with Sadler’s Brewery and it’s popular ‘Peaky Blinder’ ale will attract customers from the Midlands and across the UK by tapping into the rising popularity of craft beer. We’re committed to helping Britain prosper by supporting local businesses, like Sessions of Worcestershire, which is why we’ve pledged to increase our lending to small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized businesses by £2 billion this year.”
