British Airways is increasing flights from Birmingham Airport

The addition of two new Embraer 190 jets to its growing aircraft fleet means that an extra almost 19,000 seats will be on sale from Birmingham to some of the most popular leisure destinations in Europe - upease of 16 per cent on last summer.

There are extra flights to Florence, Palma and Malaga.

In May last year BA launched new summer-only routes from Birmingham Airport after an absence of 10 years.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager customer and commercial, said: “We are growing our summer schedule from five regional airports, including Birmingham, to destinations that our customers tell us they want to fly to. Last year we almost doubled the number of routes we operated and this year we continue to add even more destinations and an additional 36,000 seats from the UK regions.”

Tom Screen, Birmingham Airport acting aviation director, said: “Again we are delighted to welcome back the British Airways tail fin to Birmingham. With almost 19,000 seats on sale to Florence, Palma and Malaga during the summer months passengers have extra choice from their local airport and to travel on the familiar British Airways brand.

“It is great to have British Airways back for a second year after 10 years of absence and we look forward to working with the airline to extend its range of destinations from Birmingham Airport.”

All regional flights operate on modern Embraer jets with a choice of Club Europe and Euro Traveller cabins and two-abreast seating so that every customer can have either a window or aisle seat.

Each-way fares from Birmingham to Palma from £44, Malaga from £46 and Florence from £53 are available to book now on www.ba.com
