JLR car sales rose in October

Sales for luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover, rose by 0.2 per cent last month to 46,418 vehicles.

Sales of the new Range Rover Velar are growing

The company, which has its engine manufacturing centre at the i54 to the north of Wolverhampton, sold 34,082 Land Rovers – up 6.8 per cent – and 12,336 Jaguars – down 14.3 per cent – in October.

For the year so far total sales are up by 6.8 per cent to 513,080 – 363,246 Land Rovers and 149,834 Jaguars

The results for October reflect growing sales of the Range Rover Velar and the new Discovery offset by lower sales of the Range Rover and Range Sport in advance of the 18 model year refresh, including PHEV models, as well as the Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar XE.

Salesfor the month were up year-on-year in overseas markets by 15.7 per cent and in China by 12.4 per cent, but down 18.3 per cent in the UK and 3.2 per cent in North America.

Andy Goss, JLR group sales operations director, said: "It’s pleasing to see our global sales have been maintained year on year in October, despite facing increasingly challenging conditions in our key UK, US and European markets."

The slowdown in Jaguar sales on October 2016, mainly reflecting lower sales of the Jaguar XE.
