Staffordshire-based delivery network APC Overnight is holding a recruitment open day as it looks for 60 new recruits to boost its workforce in the run-up to its Christmas peak period.

The event is running at its central hub in Cannock on Saturday, October 21, and APC is looking to fill 60 permanent and fixed term contracts for night warehouse operative and forklift truck based roles.

Operations director Colin Rann said: “Successful applicants will play a crucial part in our peak season activity. We’re looking for committed individuals and team players who are able to work as part of a team and who also share our commitment to providing an excellent service to our customers.”

All successful applicants will receive training from APC Overnight’s training academy which provides an in-depth induction training programme.

The business re-opened its 60,000 sq ft Essington hub last November and from October 30 this year both the 138,000 sq ft main hub at Cannock and the Essington site will run as a dual operation as the peak season gets underway.

The company's growth in recent years has seen it expand to employ 560 people at its Staffordshire depots. It specialises in overnight parcel deliveries to small and medium-sized companies nationwide through its network of 112 sites.

APC Overnight said it had enjoyed a strong year so far and was "expecting a good Christmas season".

The company says it expects to handle around 4 million deliveries during its peak period.

It's most recent financial figures, for the 12 months to March 2016, saw APC overnight break the £100 million turnover figure for the first time.

APC moved its headquarters from its site in Essington to a new national hub at Lakeside, in Cannock, in July 2013.

But, responding to growth in the business, APC re-opened the 60,000 sq ft Essington hub in November last year with a team of 130 staff. Previously it had just been used to help with seasonal busy periods, such as Christmas.
