Jet2 adds 250,000 summer seats

On the back of announcing 55,000 extra winter seats earlier this week, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have added 250,000 summer seats to meet increased demand at Birmingham Airport.

It is also seeking to recruit more than 200 pilots, cabin crew and ground operations staff at the airport.

The addition of thousands of flights and holidays for Summer 2018 includes three brand-new sun and city destinations in Bodrum, Dubrovnik and Venice.

The expansion means that the leisure airline and package holiday specialist now has 1.25 million seats on sale for next summer from Birmingham Airport, a capacity increase of 25 per cent.

To support this expansion, the company is bringing in two additional aircraft. On top of two aircraft coming into the fleet over winter, this means the company is now doubling its fleet for next summer from four to eight aircraft.

The expansion will also see Jet2.com and Jet2holidays put on more flights and holidays to a number of its most popular sun destinations, including Alicante, Antalya, Crete, Dalaman, Faro, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Malaga, Majorca, Paphos and Tenerife. In addition, the company will now operate four weekly services to Rome.

Across the UK, the airline and package holiday specialist has added more than 650,000 summer and winter seats this week at its Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and London Stansted bases.
