‘Letters sent to parents’: Police speak out on disorder in Walsall town centre involving secondary school pupils
Police were called to reports of anti social behaviour involving secondary school pupils in Walsall town centre
West Midlands Police has spoken out about disorder in Walsall town centre involving a group of secondary school pupils.
Neighbourhood officers from WMP St Matthew’s team said they were called to reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) involving secondary school pupils on the afternoon of May 23.
A spokesperson for WMP said: “Officers gathered evidence on their body cams which was shared with Our School Intervention and Prevention Officers as well as partners Walsall Council.
“The school was then contacted, pupils identified and warning letters sent to the parents of those involved. If pupils ignore the warning letter we will take further action.”
PC Courtney Tongue, from St Matthew’s team, added: “Shoppers and visitors to the town should not have to deal with anti-social behaviour. Working alongside our partners at Walsall Council and the school we were able to identify those involved with ASB warning letters sent to parents.”
ASB Awareness Week started on Monday (June 30) and runs until today (Sunday, July 6).
