19 years minimum in jail for killer who murdered Stafford mother in 'brutal' attack
The killer of Stafford mother Rebecca Simkin has been jailed for life with a minimum of 19 years for raining down blows and strangling her in a brutal and ferocious attack.
Wayne Bond, aged 45, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Friday (July 4) for the murder of Rebecca 'Beckii' Simkin whose decomposed body was found in the living room of a flat in Newport Road in the town on July 29 last year.
He inflicted blows on her resulting in severe head injuries after they had taken drugs at the premises. She was captured on CCTV arriving at the hostel accommodation days earlier and was not seen alive after that.
Sentencing Bond, Judge Kristina Montgomery KC told him: “This morning I have to sentence you for the offence of murder. Your victim was Rebecca Simkin. She was a bright and vibrant young woman whose life and prospects were blighted by drug addiction. She leaves a mother and stepfather who have been left utterly shattered and a young son who has been left upset by what he has been told about the manner of her death.
"We know that you met her some six weeks before her death and fell into a friendship that revolved around drug abuse. On July 24 she came to your flat and you took drugs.
