Man charged after gun and ammunition recovered from house in Birmingham

A man has been charged with possessing a firearm after police officers seizing a viable firearm and ammunition from a house in Birmingham.

Keani Richardson was arrested on Saturday after being found in Digbeth, Birmingham, in possession of a knife and cannabis, with a further search of a house on Chesterton Road in Sparkbrook uncovering the firearm and ammunition.

The 26-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm, having ammunition without a certificate, possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday where he was remanded ahead of a future hearing.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We've charged a man after seizing a viable firearm and ammunition from an address in Birmingham.

"Officers from our Major Crime Unit made the recoveries after a search in Chesterton Road, Sparkbrook, on Saturday.

"The searches were carried out following the arrest of a 26-year-old man in Digbeth earlier in the day as we recovered a knife and cannabis.

"Keani Richardson, from Sparkbrook, has now been charged with possession of a firearm, having ammunition without a certificate, possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

"He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court earlier today where he was remanded ahead of a future hearing."
