Road closures in Staffordshire: A key route is being closed for almost a month during daytime for repairs costing £350,000 - here's where and when
Long-awaited carriageway resurfacing work to the tune of £350,000 is underway in a Staffordshire town.
Staffordshire County Council’s highways teams are carrying out the significant works along key route Spinney Lane in Burntwood which is subject to closures from Monday (June 23).
Work will be taking place between Bells Lane and Shelley Road and will include resurfacing of the road, cleaning of all drainage systems, replacing damaged kerbs and ironwork where necessary and the replacement of road markings.
The authority said the work is expected to go ahead weather permitting.
Due to the extensive nature of the works and the narrowness of Spinney Lane the road closure is needed to ensure works can be completed quickly and safely. Road closures will be in place each day between 7.30am and 5.30pm, but crews will try to lift these as early as possible on each shift.
As a result vehicle access to all residential properties will be restricted during the works. Access will be granted to properties when safe to do so and a diversion route will be clearly signposted on site.
Staffordshire's cabinet support member for highways (south) Daniel Cecil said: “As we move into summer our highways crews are making the most of the good weather to repair as many roads as possible. Spinney Lane is in poor condition, and this programme will give it a smoother road surface that should last for years to come.

“Of course, any major scheme such as this will require traffic management, and for the safety of crews will need to be done under a road closure during the day. Our crews will be working as hard as possible to get the work finished on time, and are looking to lift the closures as early as possible each day to minimise disruption for residents. We want to thank people for bearing with us while we complete these important works, that will really make a difference to local people.
