Teenager arrested after hundreds of cannabis plants found at Staffordshire house

A teenager has been arrested after more than 500 cannabis plants were found inside a house in Cheslyn Hay.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested by Staffordshire Police after officers discovered the plants at the house on Saredon Road in Cheslyn Hay on Tuesday.

Officers from West Midlands Police seized 578 cannabis plants, which are thought to have a street value of around £1,000, with the teenage boy from Stoke-on-Trent being arrested on suspicion of cultivating a cannabis plant.

He has been released by Staffordshire Police on conditional bail.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "A teenager has been arrested after officers found more than 500 cannabis plants during a warrant in south Staffordshire.

"Officers searched an address near Saredon Road in Cheslyn Hay, on Tuesday (June 17) and seized around 578 cannabis plants.

"A 17-year-old boy, from Burslem in Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a cannabis plant.

"He has since been released on conditional bail whilst our investigation continues."
