It has been a voyage of discovery for the former Doreen Tipton as she has become a proficient painter with work good enough to have its own exhibition.

Gill Jordan has spent the week exhibiting some of her paintings in an exhibition alongside friend and artist Derek Powell-Jones at Chillington Hall in Brewood, showing off a talent she has developed over the years.

She said it started when she was posing for paintings as Doreen Tipton about eight years ago at Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Derek had done a painting of her there.

She said: "Derek painted a little picture of Doreen and we were doing a show at the Red Rose Theatre in Rugeley, so he came to visit and showed me the painting from when I modelled at the gallery as part of a portrait competition.
