Fire crews tackle large blaze on Barr Beacon for several hours
Fire crews were called into action to tackle a large fire on a nature reserve on the edge of Walsall.
Three fire engines were called into action to tackle the blaze on grassland on Barr Beacon, which is on the border between Walsall and Great Barr, on Thursday afternoon.
The fire, which was believed to have started around 2pm, measured up to 30 to 40 metres and fire crews spent several hours getting it under control and putting out the blaze, which was confirmed as out at 7.15pm.
No details are yet available about how the fire started.
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "Shortly before 2pm on Thursday, June 19, we responded to Beacon Road at the junction of Bridle Lane, Walsall.
"Two fire engines and a 4x4 brigade response vehicle from West Bromwich, Walsall and Handsworth stations responded.
"This was a fire affecting grassland on Barr Beacon. Three hose reels and beaters were used to extinguish the fire.
"We have revisited the scene three times since the initial call.
"A fire engine and crew from Perry Barr station are currently in attendance, inspecting the area."
