The assisted dying Bill was cleared in the House of Commons on Friday in a historic vote that left MPs divided

The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill would allow terminally ill adults in England and Wales, with fewer than six months left to live, to apply for assisted death, which includes taking an approved substance provided by a doctor but administered only by the person themselves.

The decision would need to be approved by two doctors and a panel featuring a social worker, a senior legal figure and a psychiatrist.

On Friday, MPs voted 314 to 291, leading a majority of 23 in favour of legalising the Bill, with it now prepared to go on for further debate in the House of Lords.

While the vote split many MPs across the country, Members of Parliament in the Black Country and Staffordshire were left equally divided as they decided on the historic legislation.

Out of the Black Country and Staffordshire MPs 12 voted yes, and nine voted no, mirroring the split nationally.
