Woman left with 'potentially life-changing facial injuries' after crash on busy A-road in Wednesbury

A woman has been left with potentially life-changing facial injuries after a crash on a busy road.

West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service personnel were called to reports of a vehicle colliding with street furniture on the A4031 Walsall Road near Tame Bridge Parkway at around 5pm on Wednesday (June 18).

Two fire engines from Wednesbury and West Bromwich arrived at the scene, along with officers from West Midlands Police and an ambulance crew, who treated the woman before taking her to hospital.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Walsall Road in Wednesbury, shortly before 5pm today following a collision involving a vehicle which struck street furniture.

"One woman was taken to hospital with potentially life-changing facial injuries."

A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision at 4.58pm, with appliances from West Bromwich and Wednesbury attending the scene."

The West Midlands Ambulance Service has been approached for further information.
