Watch: Come inside Katie's Secret Garden as beloved Stourbridge venue celebrates 25 years

A pub and live venue which has long been part of the entertainment scene in Stourbridge celebrated a milestone birthday

Katie's Secret Garden started life as Katie Fitzgerald's on June 9 2000, re-branding after the Covid-19 pandemic into an events venue which hosts everything from comedy to open mikes to of course live music.

And there was plenty of that on Saturday as owners and married couple Trina Keane and Eddy Morton - a well known musician himself with The Bushburys welcomed acts, friends and customers from the last 25 years who came to help them celebrate their milestone.

On stage at the Enville Street venue were special guests who had played at the venue down the years including legendary West Midlands blues guitarist Steve Ajao.

In recent times, Katie's Secret Garden has become home to Funny Beeseness which has seen nationally acclaimed comics come to perform and has launched the career of Johnny Cole who played a sold out gig at Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall on Saturday.

Music wise, the likes of the Wonder Stuff have appeared along with Dean Friedman many times and former ELO drummer Bev Bevan is lined up for a gig and talk later in the year.

The venue has always prided itself to being welcoming to all sections of society and will host Stourbridge Pride next month once more.

Eddie said: "It has been a great 25 years with its ups and downs and we have seen a lot of young people come and work for us who have gone on and done other things, many of them became like family to us because we both consider ourselves young at heart.

"After the lockdown we took the decision to change the pub to make it an events-only venue so we know how many people we are catering for at each gig. We changed the layout as well to make it more intimate and the feedback has been that people love it and that is from customers and performers."

Trina said the day was emotional. She said: "We wanted to put on a thank you event for people who have supported us so much over the years and it was lovely to see so many of them here tonight. The 25 years has been memorable and I will raise a glass to the next 25."
