Residents in Smethwick getting new pedestrian and cycle crossing to improve road safety
Families living in a Smethwick housing estate are poised to get a new pedestrian crossing on a busy road nearby if the scheme gets the green light.
Sandwell Council is proposing to construct a new parallel 'tiger' crossing point in Foundry Lane, Smethwick near the junction with Murdock Road.
It is a type of black and white striped crossing that gives priority to both pedestrians and cyclists. These crossings are designed to allow cyclists to cross a road without dismounting, in a designated area alongside pedestrians.

Further details including a copy of the drawing showing the proposed location of the new crossing can be requested along with representation by emailing steven_wall@sandwell.go.uk and by visiting www.sandwell.gov.uk.
Comments also in writing, stating the grounds can be posted to Highway Services, Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE by July 3.
Work to install a similar crossing in Heath Street is due to start tomorrow (16).
