See inside Walsall takeaway where inspectors found mouse droppings and no running water
New photos show inside a Walsall takeaway which temporarily closed after inspectors found mouse droppings.
Ruby Express on Walsall Wood Road, Aldridge, voluntarily shut on the evening of March 13, 2024 after a visit from Walsall Council's Environmental Health officers.
Officers reported that there were mouse droppings and found the Cantonese takeaway was in a generally dirty and greasy condition.

It reportedly had no running water due to a broken boiler and previously had a poor food hygiene record from an earlier inspection on January 11, 2023.
Pictures published by Walsall Council show grease on the floor, uncovered food in the fridge and the dirty interior of a storage cupboard.

Officers deemed the conditions posed an imminent risk to public health and offered a voluntary closure, which was accepted by operators Mr Hing Lo and Miss Shena Lo.

The business remained shut until improvements were made and reopened on March 18, 2024.

At Dudley Magistrates Court on May 21, 2025, Mr Lo pleaded guilty to all matters and the court imposed a fine of £1,181.
The business was also ordered to pay £3,219 in costs and a £472 victim surcharge.

Councillor Kerry Murphy, Walsall Council's portfolio holder for safer communities, said: "We welcome the cooperation shown by the operators in this case and look forward to seeing the improvements.“
