More than 400 people held in custody by West Midlands Police in 48 hours

More than 400 people have been held in custody by West Midlands Police over the past two days, the force has revealed.

The suspects have been detained in custody blocks across the region including in Oldbury and Bloxwich for a range of offences including assault, criminal damage and burglary.

They include a 34-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer at a Birmingham hospital on Friday (June 13) evening.

She is one of 31 people who have been detained by police over assault offences in the past 48 hours.

Separately, two men aged 24 and 27 were arrested on Friday night on suspicion of intent to supply class A drugs.

Later, officers arrested another two men, aged 21 and 28, for the same offence on Broad Street, Birmingham.

In another incident, police were called to Shirley, Solihull, in the early hours where a 30-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of assaulting a taxi drier.
