Time for a song! Popular Halesowen choir gearing up for summer concert

The popular Lutley Community Voices choir are gearing up for their annual summer concert in Halesowen later this month.

The 60-strong community choir are in their 13th year and have been putting in the hours rehearsing songs around the theme for the concert As Time Goes By.

It will feature songs from Grease, Jersey Boys, Fiddler on the Roof, The Greatest Showman and modern pop classics from the like of Avicii, all around the 'time' theme.

Joining them to host will be Black Country poet, singer and radio host Billy Spakemon with the musical director Margaret Jones and chairman of the group John Rhead keeping them in check.

 Lutley Community Voices Chori will be on song at Halesowen TownHall later this month with their show As Time Goes By.

Spokesperson for the group Jeanette Greenaway, a stalwart of the Halesowen and Black Country entertainment scene, said there would be something for everyone.

She said: "Not giving too much away but all the songs will be around the 'time' theme and a lot will feature from stage shows, movies and also recordings.

"We enjoy doing the summer concert and try to vary it for all ages so we hope people will come along and enjoy the music."

It takes place at Halesowen Town Hall from 7.30pm on Saturday, June 28, with all proceeds going to Mary Stevens Hospice.
