More than 1,000 names back petition against Wolverhampton pub becoming Toby Carvery
An online petition against a move to convert a Wolverhampton pub into a Toby Carvery eatery has hit the 1,000-signature mark.
The Cleveland Arms, which is part of Mitchells & Butlers Sizzling Pubs & Grill chain, is due to close for a revamp on July 29, before re-opening under the operator's Toby branding.
Mitchells & Butlers said The Cleveland Arms in Stow Heath Lane in Moseley, affectionately known as 'The Cleve', will retain its name.

However, more than 1,100 supporters have so far put their signatures to a Change.org petition opposing moves to convert the popular sports pub after residents said it was the last remaining community watering hole in the vicinity and they want to keep it as it is.
On Saturday (May 31) there will be a protest held outside the premises at 10am.
Jane Hancock, of the Save the Cleveland Arms Group, said: "If it changes into a Toby it will not be the same. They will have to book meals online to be given a 90-minute slot. It is going to cause more suffering than enjoyment.
"Everybody is gong to lose out. It will all be gone so we are holding a demonstration on Saturday. We'll be handing out leaflets, collecting signatures and waving placards."
