Ruth Hopkins, who lives at Care UK's Bishop Manor in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, celebrated turning 100 on March 15 surrounded by her family, fellow residents and care home staff.

The centenarian met her late husband, John Hopkins, in the late 1940s. The pair went on to marry in 1952 and had a daughter, Judy.

In 2023, Ruth lost her wedding band and has since hoped to be reunited with it in some way, especially after the death of her husband 18 years ago.

Sarah Beech, activity coordinator at the care home, turned to her jeweller husband, Ian, for help creating a replica of Ruth's lost ring to make her 100th birthday one to remember.
