Woman fighting for life after being hit by a car at petrol station
Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was hit by a car at a Stafford petrol station, leaving her in a critical condition.
Emergency services were called at around midday on Thursday to the Texaco station on Lammascote Road following reports of a car being involved in a collision with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance and remains there in a critical condition.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A 75-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of road traffic act offences.
He has since been released under investigation while our inquiries continue.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We are urging anyone who saw what happened or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 315 of 3 April.
