West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 7.28am on December 5 to reports of a collision involving a blue Yamaha motorcycle and a blue VW Transporter on the A460 at the junction of Stile Cop Road.
They sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene.
Police were called shortly after at 7.35am.
They found the man, named Gaz Lavender, in a critical condition.
However, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 43-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
His family is being supported by specially-trained officers.
In a tribute, Gaz’s family said: “Gaz was a kind gentle giant, full of life. He was incredibly funny and loved by all who knew him. His passion for music and motorbikes is unmatched. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.”
