Dudley road closed following concerns for woman's safety

A busy Dudley road has been closed in both directions as emergency services respond to an incident involving a woman in a 'potentially serious' condition.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Hall Street near Duncan Edwards Way at around 2.35pm after concerns for a woman's safety. 

Hall Street has been closed while crews attend to the incident at the junction of Trindle Road and King Street.

There is heavy traffic on approach with delays of up to six minutes. 

The AA route planner website shows a police incident near Castle Gate Island, reported at 3.36pm, with Duncan Edwards Way being closed from Castlegate Island to Flood Street Island. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Duncan Edwards Way at around 2.35pm following concerns for the safety of a woman. She is now being supported by other agencies."

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: "Shortly before 2.55pm on Thursday (December 12), we responded to Hall Street, Dudley at the junction of Trindle Road and King Street. Fire engines from Dudley and Brierley Hill responded, alongside a hydraulic platform from Oldbury.

"This is an ongoing incident. The road has been closed by police."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said an ambulance that was passing by stopped to help.

"A further ambulance and paramedic officer also attended the scene. We found one female patient who was assessed and in a potentially serious condition. She was conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment," the statement read. 

West Midlands Roads announced on X: "Hall Street #WMROADSDudley Road is closed between Tringle Road/King Street and Duncan Edwards Way due to a police incident. Delays have increased, impacting A461 Duncan Edwards Way and A4123 New Birmingham Road. Consider other routes."
