Staffordshire Fire and Rescue crews were called out to the A51 bypass towards Rugeley just before 3pm on Sunday to reports of a flock of sheep stuck in flood water.

Around 20 sheep are being rescued with six fire engines currently in attendance and another three on the way to the A51 bypass, which runs alongside the River Trent.

Firefighters entered the water just after 4pm to save the farm animals from the floods which were caused by heavy rain and winds brought on by Storm Darragh.
