Crew tackles Severn Valley Railway embankment fire

Firefighters took about half an hour to beat out a fire on a Severn Valley Railway embankment.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 4.55pm on Friday to the SVR line near Highley where they found a blaze covering 25 square metres.

The crew, from Cleobury Mortimer, used beaters and knapsacks to put the fire out and the incident was reported to be ended by 5.20pm.
