West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after the collision on Washwood Heath Road in Hodge Hill.

The 23-year-old man was on a yellow quad bike when he was in a crash with a black VW Golf near The Fox and Goose pub at about 2pm on Thursday.

The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, is understood to have been overtaking vehicles when he was in collision with the Golf which was turning right into Chetwynd Road.

He suffered serious head injuries and is currently in a serious condition in hospital.

The driver of the Golf, a 24-year-old woman, who remained at the scene, suffered whiplash injuries which did not require hospital treatment.

The family of the rider have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The force said it was also aware of images circulating on social media of the injured rider and asked that those are not shared to avoid causing further distress for the rider's family.

Sergeant Mark Crozier of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are working to establish exactly what happened and would ask anyone we've not already spoken to and who has any information to get in contact.

"This is a busy road and we would also appeal for drivers who were in the area to check their dashcams for any footage around the time of the collision."
