Trust receives £9,500 to help transform lives
A charitable trust that supports community groups is expanding its operations after receiving a donation of more than £9,000.
Transforming Communities Together (TCT) is looking to widen its work across north Shropshire, the Black Country and Staffordshire to ensure residents can thrive. Now it has been awarded £9,565 by The Charities Aid Foundation’s Coronavirus Emergency Fund to target new areas.
Trust chief the Reverend Dr David Primrose said the team was delighted to be working with the foundation to expand its capability to support people during difficult times by investing in online material.
“Covid-19 has had a big impact on the West Midlands, especially in communities where there are existing economic and health inequalities. We are delighted to be using this generous donation to expand the range of support and empowerment that we are able to offer to local communities,” Dr Primrose said.
Among the projects to be funded so far is the development of new online resources by TCT’s Modern Slavery Campaigner, Debbie Huxton. Equipment has been bought to set up the Hidden in Plain Sight podcast on websites, including the Apple and Google.
It means residents can hear from modern slavery experts while a series of YouTube videos have been recorded for churches to use. TCT’s senior development worker James Henderson said: “
The online based sessions have proved to be very popular, so we’ve even had to add on extra dates.”
TCT team members are also working with a range of partners to support those who have become financially distressed by the Covid-19 crisis. CAF’s head of charity advisory and programmes
