Knife-wielding robber takes cash in shop raid

A masked robber armed with a blade made off with cash during a terrifying afternoon raid.

Staff at Smethwick's Farmfoods store in Cape Hill were threatened with a knife during the armed robbery.

The culprit demanded cash from workers before punching a security driver who had walked into the store.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police are investigating after workers were threatened with a knife during a robbery at Farmfoods, Cape Hill, Smethwick, just after 3pm on Sunday.

"A masked man entered the store and demanded cash from staff, then punched a cash security driver who had entered the store.

"The robber made off with a quantity of cash."
