A yellow severe weather warning has been issued for much of the UK mainland, with thunderstorms set to start at 6pm.

The mercury could rise to 29/30C by 4pm in the Black Country and Staffordshire, which would be the highest of this heatwave.

Those temperatures could remain until 7pm, and the mercury could still be at 25C by 10pm tonight - making sleeping conditions tough, coupled with the potential thunderstorms.

The Met Office has warned the thunderstorms could bring power cuts and hazardous driving conditions to the country's roads.

The yellow weather warning is in place until 9am tomorrow.
