The broadcaster learned about the campaign during a visit to St Luke’s Aided Primary School in Blakenhall as part of a BBC Sports Personality of the Year roadshow event.

Posing for a photograph with the sign, Gabby said she was more than happy to support the appeal which helps those in need across the Black Country and Staffordshire.

Donations of food and toiletries have been flooding in since Feed a Family This Christmas launched earlier this month.

We received a massive gift of more than 2,600 items from Lichfield Food Bank, which due to the generosity of its supporters received a huge haul during the harvest celebrations.

Hundreds of tins of soup, vegetables, meat and fish have been handed over as well as dozens of bags of pasta, rice, noodles, snacks and biscuits.

We've also had schools including St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Wednesbury join by collecting donations.

Until December 15, we are collecting contributions of non-perishable food and toiletries as well as socks and hats.

If you can afford to help, we are appealing for gifts of festive food, such as mince pies, chocolates and Christmas puddings.

We are also asking for store cupboard essentials like canned goods, long-life milk, fruit juice, pasta and rice.

The good causes we will be supporting this year are the Black Country Food Bank, which has centres across Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall, The Well (Home of Wolverhampton Food Bank), the Good Shepherd Ministry, based in Wolverhampton, and Cannock and District Food Bank.

Chocolate selection boxes will be passed on to the Haven refuge which provides both practical and emotional support services to women and children who are affected by domestic violence and homelessness.

Donations can be taken to:

  • E&S Wolverhampton head office: 51-53 Queen Street, Wolverhampton
