The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity is launching its festive campaign and is aiming to make Christmas magical for youngsters who are stuck in hospital over the holidays.

The charity raises cash for West Park, Cannock Chase and New Cross Hospitals as well as a number of community sites.

Funds raised will provide a host of new items for patients including children’s books and toys, as well as improving their comfort while in hospital.

Fundraising co-ordinator, Leanne Bood, said: “Christmas is a magical time of year when lots of people get together to celebrate.

“However for patients who are in hospital over this period it can be a particularly difficult time.

“Your donations will be made to help make our patients’ Christmas extra special.

“The smallest of gestures can make a real difference to our patients. So please get in touch and see how you can help this year.”

A £10 donation could provide toiletries for a vulnerable patient, books and toys for youngsters, or a pair of slippers for patients on older adult wards.

Supporters looking to help spread the Christmas cheer and goodwill are being encouraged to host their own festive parties at home, school, college or in the workplace.

Festive-themed food sales could also be held, making a donation instead of sending Christmas cards, or getting involved in Christmas Jumper Day on December 21.

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity fundraises throughout the year to support thousands of patients in need.

Supporters have helped provide better quality furniture including parental beds on the Children’s Ward, as well as special support cushions used during radiation therapy.

Specialist equipment not routinely provided on the NHS, such as for cancer patients, have also been bought with cash gathered by the charity.

Volunteers are also needed to join the cause, with charity ambassadors needed to support the existing team.

Residents able to give their support to the charity can get involved with fundraising activities and promotional events.
