Woman 'dies in three-car crash' on residential road

A woman has reportedly died in a serious crash involving three cars in the Black Country.

Police and paramedics were called to the smash in Lower Gornal at around 10.30pm last night.

Residents said a woman died in an incident on Wood Road, at the junction with Wood Avenue.

A BMW, Alfa Romeo and Mitsubishi vehicle were involved while two garden walls were also damaged.

Today all the vehicles had been removed and only yellow road markings put down as part of the crash investigation remained.

A bouquet of flowers has been left next to the road.

Residents said that a woman died at the scene and that a young girl was taken to hospital.

A garden wall knocked down

Adrian Beasley, aged 49, a fire alarm engineer, said: "Everyone in the street is devastated - it has shocked us all."

Mr Beasley has called for traffic calming measures to be installed on the road.

West Midlands Police were expected to release further details on Sunday.
