Former Baggies defender and current coach Darren Moore and ex-Wolves and England ace Geoff Thomas will be among 15,000 riders taking part in the inaugural charity event, which takes place on closed roads around the West Midlands.

Both will be raising money for Cure Leukaemia. Thomas, a leukaemia survivor and a patron of the charity, arrives fresh from completing the gruelling Three Tours Challenge, which saw him and a team of fundraisers take on more than10,000km of cycling in nine weeks over the Giro D’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana courses.

Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster is also a supporter of the Cure Leukaemia team, while England rugby World Cup-winning captain Martin Johnson is among the other sporting stars taking part.

The NSPCC, Alzheimer’s Society and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham are the event’s other principal charities from the efforts of the hordes of cyclist.
