Birchwood House at Hoar Cross, near Lichfield in Staffordshire, could soon have some new occupants after its price was slashed by £200,000.

It was built in 2008 and the eco-friendly house is said to be much cheaper to run than other properties of a similar size.

The mansion comes with 26 acres of land

The mansion is set in the middle of 26 acres of Staffordshire countryside and is just around the corner from the luxurious Grade II listed Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel – if the future owner fancies spoiling themselves with a pamper day.

But with its own 15-metre pool, gym, sauna and steam room, why leave the residence?

Crispin Harris, who is an estate agent at Jackson-Stops & Staff who are dealing with the sale, said there has been a lot of interest in the property since the current owners dropped the price.

"Birchwood House is an entirely new-built property which my clients built themselves to a very high standard; the quality of fittings in the house is just incredible," he said.

"It is very eco-friendly so although it's got an enormous swimming pool and underfloor heating the running costs are relatively low.

"There are all sorts of wonderful features in the house. It has its own cinema room which doubles up as a bar and there are flick and switch blinds that come down throughout the building.

"I think it is exceptional, I really love it, the more I go there I like it. I can't afford it, sadly, but if I could I would. It really is special and perfect for someone that likes a property with a contemporary twist."

The cutting-edge house has made use of light and glass, with rooms that, with the use of sliding and bi-folding doors, bring the the exterior of the countryside within.

Fittings include a white gloss and granite-topped kitchen, stone and oak floors and designer fittings to the wet rooms, together with a home intelligence system with digitally-controlled lighting, surround sound, electric curtains and blinds and underfloor heating.

Mr Harris added: "The setting is fantastic. The property sits in over 26 acres of beautiful rolling countryside. And it employs the use of a lot of glass so, although you are cocooned inside, you feel like you're outside in the countryside.

"It could be of interest to a sportsman or a well-known personality because it's very private there."
