The first refurbishment works were getting under way on the overhaul of the site which will be anchored by a 90,000 sq ft Debenhams and is set to be completed in October 2017.

The revamp is one of the most significant private sector investments in the city over the last 20 years and will create up to 150 new local jobs.

A new centre manager has also joined this month with Robert Gough becoming commercial retail manager.

He said: "The first phase of the transformation starts this week and will be clearly communicated to our customers."
