Health workers to get paid living wage

Hospital workers at the trust that runs Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital will get paid the living wage after trust chiefs backed the move.

Hundreds of employees at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust will get the increase when the living wage at a cost of more than £113,000 a year. It will take effect from next month.

Yesterday(mon) the trust board approved the roll out of the living wage making it one of the first to do so.

Hospitals' chairman Jeremy Vanes said staff aged under 25 will be eligible for the extra pay. The rate is £7.85 per hour.
