£10k reward for brutal thugs who attacked Staffordshire pensioner outside home

A pensioner was repeatedly punched and kicked during a frightening assault outside his home in Staffordshire.

Retired managing director Harry Wiggins said he was set upon after approaching a man on a tractor on his land.

He has now put up a £10,000 reward in a bid to see the see the attacker caught and convicted.

The 65-year-old suffered a mild concussion and bruises to his head and body during the ordeal and after getting up from being knocked down a third time, and blacking out, he managed to limp to his home in Lichfield and call police.

The father-of-two, who was attacked in Fisherwick Road, Whittington, said: "He leapt from his tractor and punched my head. I fell to the ground and he was kicking me. When I stood up, he punched me in the chest and continued kicking me.

"I stood up for a third time and he punched me again. I managed to distance myself and didn't see where he went. I was badly beaten and bruised. I blacked out for a while.

"I suffered a severe blow to the head and a severe blow to the chest which left me with breathing problems. I went to see my doctor and had to have medication to stop my body going into shock spasm."

He said emergency services had turned up within minutes of calling 999 but he had declined to go to the hospital.

Mr Wiggins, who lives on a farm with his 57-year-old partner Judith, said: "

I'm still in shock about what happened. It's just unbelievable.

I'm offering this £10,000 reward to anyone who has information which leads to a successful prosecution. I don't want it happening to anyone else."

A man from the Lichfield area has been arrested on suspicion of common assault. Anyone with information can call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
