Armed robber threatens staff during raid at pharmacy

An armed robber made off with a quantity of cash from a chemist's in Burntwood.

Police believe the offender was carrying a BB gun and are appealing for witnesses.

Officers were called to Lloyds Pharmacy in Lichfield Road, just before 10.40am on Friday. The culprit threatened staff with the weapon, which he then discarded at the scene.

Armed response officers and officers from the Dog Support Unit attended the scene and began to search the area.

The firearm was found discarded at the scene and is believed to be a BB gun.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid 20s, 5ft 8ins tall with short mousey brown hair and he wore a grey hooded top with his face covered.

It is believed he fled the area in a black VW Passat accompanied by two other men.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time to get in touch. Call police on 101, quoting incident number 193 of June 5 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
