Dudley man denies terrorism offences

Published

A man from Dudley today pleaded not guilty to two counts of distributing a terrorist publication.

Usman Choudhary, aged 33, of Terry street, denies supplying a book entitled 'Join the Caravan', which it is alleged was intended to directly or indirectly encourage or induce the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

Christopher Weston, 26, from London, pleaded not guilty to one count of encouraging the offence - which was said to have taken place last September.

Both men, who were arrested by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, entered their formal pleas at Southwark Crown Court this afternoon and were remanded in custody.

Their trial is set for July 7 at Kingston Crown Court.
