A man found dead alongside his estranged wife had a single stab wound to his chest while she had suffered multiple knife wounds, an inquest has heard.

The bodies of Hayley and David Stringer were discovered at a house in Hollemeadow Avenue, Blakenall, Walsall, on Saturday.

An inquest into their deaths was opened at Smethwick Council House yesterday and heard that Mrs Stringer, aged 29, suffered multiple stab wounds, including a knife wound to her chest.

Mr Stringer, aged 32, was found in the lounge area with a single stab wound to his chest and the knife had been left in situ, the inquest was told.

Mr Stringer had lived at the address until the pair separated and then went to live in Field Road, Bloxwich.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with their deaths, which are being treated as a murder suicide.

Their bodies were discovered at 3.50am on Saturday following an emergency call.

They were pronounced dead at the scene. The inquest was adjourned for further inquiries to be carried out.
