Two teenagers injured and reports of gunshots in Wolverhampton city centre fight

Police descended on Wolverhampton city centre last night after reports of a fracas which left two teenagers injured, while there were reports of gunshots being fired. One man has been arrested.

Witnesses described seeing a gang of around 15 teenagers fighting on the street outside the Britannia Hotel in Lichfield Street, at around 8pm.

There were also reports that gunshots were heard.

The teenage man and woman are currently in hospital after being assaulted at around 8.10pm, police said last night.

Officers are also probing whether gunshots were fired during the disturbance.

The city centre was locked down by armed officers for a short while in the immediate aftermath of the disturbance.

A small area currently was still cordoned off late last night and a police car and police van were parked outside the hotel.
