Three charged after Tividale chemical attack

A man and two women have been charged following an attack on a 19-year-old woman in Tividale which left with her serious burns.

The victim was doused in high-strength cleaning fluid as she answered the door of a property in MacDonald Close on Wednesday.

Matthew Wood, 27, from Alexander Road, Smethwick, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Debbie Wood, 46, and Lisa Wood, 25, both of Alexander Road, Smethwick, have been charged with committing an act to pervert the course of public justice.

All three were set to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (Sat).

Police said a 23-year-old man and a 19-year-old man who were arrested on suspicion of assault as part of the investigation have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of wounding has also been bailed while the investigation continues.

Neighbours said they believed the woman who was injured did not live at the address and had been visiting a friend.
