The collision happened at around 9.45pm on Saturday on the southbound carriageway between junction 10a for the M54 link and junction 10 for Walsall.

The pile-up came after one car collided with the central reservation and cars hit the back of one another in its wake.

The crash closed the two outer most lanes, two and three. There were queues of around a mile-and-a-half in length after the collision, back to junction 10a. Highways Agency chiefs stressed it was a 'none injury collision'.
