One lane of M5 shut after car is abandoned

Dudley | News | Published:

One lane of the M5 motorway was closed to traffic for an abandoned vehicle to be removed from the central reservation.

Officials sealed off the third lane of the northbound carriageway near to Frankley Services between Junction 4 Bromsgrove and Junction 3 Halesowen on Sunday evening.

The Highways Agency said the vehicle had been left between the central reservation and lane three, leaving them no choice but to impose a partial closure.

But they said the other two lanes remained open.

Officials were working at the scene to remove the vehicle so the motorway could be fully reopened.

Highways Agency spokesman Lee Rowbotham said: "The information we have is that there is an abandoned vehicle between the central reservation and lane three.

"Work is underway to deal with the problem."
