A man's body was found on the junction of Prior Close, a cul-de-sac, and Chaucer Crescent, Kidderminster.

The discovery was made at around 10am yesterday. The man has not yet been identified and West Mercia Police say forensic investigations are continuing.

The house was encircled by three police cars and a forensic investigator's van yesterday morning, after the body was removed. The scene of the discovery was also sealed off.

Rachel Cadwallader, an 88-year-old great-grandmother-of-two, living nearby, said it had come as a shock.

She added: "I got up late because I had a lie-in and at first I thought there must have been an accident on the corner.

"I was watching and waiting to see what it was. This is not something you expect to happen at all, and certainly not on Boxing Day."

Betty Shaw, who is 91 and a great-grandmother-of-two, has lived in the area for 35 years.

She said: "There's never been anything like this here. It's normally a very quiet area."
