Parts of Bloxwich were cordoned off as police investigated today.

The 47-year-old was discovered in Samuel Street in Bloxwich at about 9.50pm last night.

Paramedics treated him at the scene and he was taken to hospital where he later died.

The death has been referred to the coroner and police say it is not being treated as suspicious.

A stretch of Samuel Street was cordoned off while officers investigated this morning.

Business owners today spoke of their shock. Christine Fields, owner of the Eat In Cafe and Takeout in Samuel Street, said: "I was woken up at 6.30am by a friend who was worried that the police had found a man.

"We were open all day yesterday until 3.30pm and it was really busy. This is the last thing we expected to find this morning especially at this time of year."

Shops including a dry cleaners and butchers were inside the cordon, and police officers had to collect meat for customers that had turned up this morning and pass it over the tape to them.
